Fire Training Props

This Addendum is issued in accordance with the IFB Terms & Conditions and is intended to provide
additional information and clarification to Respondents.
This Addendum consists of one (1) item which is listed below and is an integral part of the IFB to which it
is attached, and is incorporated therein and made part thereof by this reference.
Item 1 – Questions and Answers
1. Please clarify the level of detail for the ignition component cut sheets.
ANSWER: Provide a diagrammatic representation of the ignition system being proposed, sufficient to
identify major components and demonstrate system functionality. Detailed shop drawings are not
required at this stage.
2. Please clarify the level of detail for the drawings of the props and electrical, gas and mounting
requirements.
ANSWER: Provide a preliminary or conceptual site layout identifying prop locations and associated
electrical, gas, and mounting connection points. The intent is to allow the County to reasonably
evaluate the extent of site work and utility connections required; final construction drawings are not
required with the bid.
3. Is pilot ionization flame proving a requirement or is a third party verified, NFPA 1402 compliant pilot
system acceptable?
ANSWER: A third-party verified pilot system that is compliant with NFPA 1402 is acceptable. .
4. Please provide additional details about the sacrificial training panels on the car hood. Size, orientation,
location, etc.
ANSWER: Sacrificial panels shall be approximately 18 - 24 inches square and located at a corner of
the hood. The panel shall be oriented to allow firefighters to simulate forcible entry techniques,
including spiking a Halligan tool and peeling back the hood corner.
5. What is the purpose of the car casters if the car is to be permanently fixed in place?
ANSWER: “Permanent” refers to the prop not being trailer-mounted or intended for transport offsite.
Casters are intended to allow repositioning of the car within the training pad area as needed for
training scenarios.

6. What is the purpose of the towing D rings on the car if it is to be permanently fixed in place?
ANSWER: “Permanent” refers to the prop not being transported on a trailer. Towing D-rings are
provided to allow the car to be repositioned on the training pad as needed; they are not intended for
roadway towing.
7. Is the LP tank prop permanently fixed in place like the car or is it portable?
ANSWER: The LP tank prop shall be permanently fixed in place. .
8. Can you describe the proposed layout for the optional EV battery feature (size, orientation, layout,
etc)?
ANSWER: The optional EV battery feature shall consist of two burners located along each side of the
vehicle, positioned between the front and rear wheels.
