PORT INLAND ROAD OVER MILAKOKIA RIVER (STR 9703)

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Sealed bids are solicited for the rehabilitation work on the bridge located on Port Inland Road over the

Milakokia River between Gulliver and Port Inland, in Schoolcraft County, Michigan. The proposed work

includes installation of platforms/false decking, installation of an enclosure, blast cleaning the bottom

flanges of the existing steel beams and areas as noted on the plans, installation of steel cover plates to

the bottom flanges of the beams, beam painting as indicated on the plans, and installation of deck drain

extensions.

Bids will be received for a single prime contract. Bids shall be on a lump sum and unit price basis as

indicated on the bid form.

The issuing office for the bidding documents is as follows:

1) Schoolcraft County Road Commission, 332N East Road, Manistique, Michigan, 49854, (906)

341-5634. The primary contacts are:

Prospective bidders may examine the bidding documents at the issuing office Monday through Thursday

between 8 AM & 4 PM EST. Copies of bidding documents may also be obtained from the issuing office as

described below.

Printed bidding documents may be obtained from the issuing office upon payment of a $100.00

refundable deposit (refundable for the first set only), plus a $200.00 non-refundable handling fee for

each set of contract documents. Payments are to be made payable to “Schoolcraft County Road

Commission”. Bidding documents are also available via flash drive (as portable document format (pdf)

files) for a non-refundable charge of $50.00. The owner and engineer are not responsible for full or

partial sets of bidding documents, including addenda, obtained from sources other than the issuing

office.

Builder’s Exchanges are authorized to share the contract documents with other exchanges. All bidding

documents can also be examined at the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Builders Exchange and the Marquette

Builders Exchange.

A bid opening will be held at 10:00 am local time on Thursday, September 10th, 2026, at the

Schoolcraft County Road Commission office (location noted above).

The bid bond or certified check payable to the owner shall be in an amount no less than 5% of the

maximum bid as a guarantee, that if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file the contract,

performance and payment bonds, and insurance certification as required by the contract documents

within ten (10) days after the Notice of Award.

The owner reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all bids.
