Background

Schaumburg Regional Airport is classified as a general aviation airport. Exceeding 60,000 operations per year, the airport is home to 52 hangar spaces across five buildings. The hangars are 100% occupied. The airport also features 150 tie-down spaces for outdoor aircraft storage. At present the airport hosts 6 active businesses including one fixed base operator that is approved for Airframe & Powerplant repairs, Avionics repairs, and Flight Instruction. The airport features one 3,800 runway with 2 prepared hangar spaces on the north side of the airfield. Additional space has been contemplated in Schaumburg’s Airport Layout Plan for hangars, but to date none has been developed.

The Consultant shall perform and carry out, in a professional and satisfactory manner, the necessary services required to complete the requirements included in the project. The study should fully contemplate the alternative option of land leases to allow construction of private hangars on Village property. The study would require separate return on investment analyses for both a Village build and Land Leases for private development. Management considerations, minimum standards, liabilities, taxes, and maintenance will need to be analyzed. The deliverable of the planning effort shall be a study document that summarizes the findings, financials, and provides aerials of potential hangar development locations.
