Purchase & Installation of High-Density Mobile Shelving Unit
Shelby County Emergency
Criminal Court Clerk
TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:
The following questions were submitted by a potential vendor. Our answer is listed
in red below:
1. In application, please provide the allocation of units by size. The
specification/scope of work section already provide minimum unit sizes and
allotment… please refer to the addendums.
2. Will there be any loose file storage? We see the request for dividers. If you are
still going to be storing boxes only, then the dividers will have no use. We will
be storing loose files and boxes. Therefore, the dividers are needed for our
storage flexibility.
3. I have a concern regarding the Bid for Shelby County Criminal Court Clerk in the
scope of work: The quote/bid must include preparing any concrete for
installation as needed. Removing any flooring that is not concrete, install
polyurea or similar floor coating over existing concrete for durability if
needed. This scope of work needs to be directed to a flooring contractor.
We are not qualified to do or oversee this type of work. Another factor is
until the existing high-density filing is removed, it would be hard to
determine the actual condition of the concrete and the necessary work that
need to be done. Has the existing flooring been tested for asbestos? That
could be very critical in determining the removal of the flooring. We can
certainly give you the manufacturer’s recommendation for the concrete
and work with a floor-covering contractor. Please let me know if we can
eliminate this portion of the bid or will that have an effect on our bid
submittal? All existing shelving is installed on a concrete floor. The extra
space of 400ft is where the additional shelving will be installed. This is
where we have vinyl flooring that is not in good condition. In addition, it is
not recommended to install high-density shelving and operate heavy
equipment on vinyl flooring. Therefore, we are asking for polyurea or
epoxy coating. Older vinyl flooring made before 1982 may contain asbestos
but we believe these was not installed prior to that. You may have a
flooring contractor visit the site to give you an estimate for your bid.
Sincerely,
Signed Original on File
