DESCRIPTION OF GOOD(S)

We are seeking to source options for beds (all types), stretchers and mattresses (supportive surfaces) and related original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and services including parts to assist in streamlining options for all our facilities, homes and programs across the provinces through replacement of aging equipment. Multiple vendors will be considered to fulfill this requirement.

SPECIFICATIONS/TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The following are Mandatory Requirements:

1. "Medical Device License”. Equipment must have a valid Medical Device License issued by the Therapeutic Products Directorate of Health Canada (if applicable).

2. The Equipment must meet all Health Canada recommendations in terms of trapping: “GUIDELINE, Hospital beds for adults: Risk of Patient Entrapment, Reliability of Barrier Locking, and Other Risks,” available at https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-health-products/medical-devices/application-information/guidance-document…

3. Proponents must adhere to the following IP&C standards:

(i) Standards for Infection Prevention and Control Accountability and Reporting (May 12, 2011) which can be located at https://open.alberta.ca/publications/9780778582625

Basic Minimum Technical and Operational Needs for all Beds

 Warranty - Please indicate how long the product will be supported (Parts/Service)

 Weight Capacity – minimum 450-500 lbs (standard beds)

 Central Braking System

 Reverse Trendelenburg

 Clear access to get lift under

 Battery Back Up

 Corner Bumpers

 Length & Width Extensions

 Lowest level bed can go to – 10 inches (lower for LTC) – More specific if it is a requirement

 Annul maintenance and servicing province wide
