Sacramento International Airport (SMF) has seen a significant increase in both passenger traffic and cargo operations, which has led to a rise in associated vehicular traffic. This surge in traffic on Airport Boulevard highlights the need for enhanced roadway wayfinding signs to ensure smooth navigation for all airports users. Currently, the existing overhead landside signs that direct traffic to parking lots and terminals feature outdated digital components that are no longer supported and are reaching the end of their lifecycle. With many parts for these signs now obsolete, Airport personnel are required to manually update the signage, a process that is not only time-consuming but also inefficient in meeting the dynamic needs of the Airport.
