Roadside Maintenance

McDuffie County Board of Commissioners is interested in obtaining information on the availability, ability,
and services provided by interested parties to perform roadside maintenance. Roadside maintenance
would consist of trimming/cutting hazardous trees, heavy brushing (roadside cutback), roadside mowing
(bush hogging), mowing (weed eating) around signs, guardrails, bridges, and litter pickup.
Emailed responses will be accepted by the McDuffie County Managers Office located at 210 Railroad
Street, 2nd Floor, Thomson GA. 30824, until August 21, 2026 at 5:00 PM. Submissions may be mailed or
hand delivered and should be sent to McDuffie County Manager 210 Railroad Street, Thomson, GA
30824.

McDuffie County Board of Commissioners reserves the right to cancel this solicitation and/or reject any

SECTION 1 -GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Background
McDuffie County manages and maintains:
• 362 total miles of county roads and rights-of-way
• 259 miles of paved roads
• 103 miles of native or aggregate surfaced roads
• 22 bridges and large culverts
This road network provides access to residential areas, commercial facilities, recreational
areas, and connections to major collectors and arterials. Within this network there are
numerous bridges, box culverts, stream crossings, railroad crossings, and intersections
with other county and state roads. Figure 1. shows the distribution of paved and unpaved
roads in our system.
1.1 Current Operations
McDuffie County currently utilizes a mixture of county personnel and prison crew labor to
perform maintenance within the right of ways along county-maintained roads. Prison crew
labor costs have increased, and the availability of those crews have decreased.
1.2 Desired Outcome
McDuffie County is interested in obtaining information on the availability, ability, and
services provided by interested parties to perform roadside maintenance. Roadside
maintenance would consist of trimming/cutting hazardous trees, heavy brushing (roadside
cutback), roadside mowing (bush hogging), mowing (weed eating) around signs,

1.3 How to Respond
Interested vendors should respond with their capabilities, current operations and/or
services provided, and experience in providing these services. Vendors are encouraged
to respond via email to Brandon Burton, County Manager via email at bids@thomson-
mcduffie.gov. Responses may also be delivered to McDuffie County Manager Office, 210
Railroad Street, Thomson, GA 30824 Mon-Fri 8AM to 5PM.
