SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for this project shall consist of milling and resurfacing approximately 0.35 miles of pavement and concrete along Riverview Drive, included in this project is the repairing of full depth pavement, adjusting all affected structures, removal and replacement of various sections of curb, gutter, and drive approaches, and the placement of pavement markings throughout the project and an enhanced pedestrian crossing at Hotop Ave.
Work shall consist of three phases with the first two phases consisting of milling the roadway, repairing the base, and paving the leveling course of asphalt pavement. The final phase will consist of paving the top course of asphalt via night paving operations. Care and consideration should be given by the contractor to the schedule and timeline of work. Riverview Drive is a key street in the City’s road network and it is essential that lane closure timelines are minimized to the extent possible.
The improvements in this project shall be done in accordance with the latest edition of the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) standard specifications for construction, AASHTO's green book and guide for design of pavement structures, Michigan's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MMUTCD), the City of Kalamazoo standard details and street design manual, MDOT standard and special details, the NACTO urban street design guide, and the supplemental specifications and special provisions, as specified in this log of project.
All necessary traffic control, labor, materials, tools, equipment, and other items incidental to the work being performed shall be included in the Contractor’s unit price for this contract. Such items will not be bid or paid for separately but shall be included in the overall unit price.
The bidder shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, tools, equipment, and other means necessary or proper for performing and completing the work. The bidder shall be responsible for the cleaning up of the job site and shall repair or restore all structures and property that may be damaged or disturbed during performance of the work to the satisfaction of the Public Services Department for the City of Kalamazoo. Drainage structure covers shall be salvaged and reused if in usable condition; otherwise, they shall be replaced. Where needed, all traffic control used for such operations as defined by the MMUTCD will be the responsibility of the bidder.
The bidder shall have all work completed by June 14, 2024
