Work to be Done

Job Title: Road Repairs

SUNY Old Westbury is soliciting bids to repair two road issues along the main campus loop known as Ring Road and Gate A Road. Part one is to provide and install a culvert pipe drainage pipe under an existing portion of Ring Road adjacent to athletic fields to allow for ponding water on road to bypass under the road. Part two is to repair area of washed out road at a separate location along Ring Road known as Gate A Road.

The following scopes of work is based off of mandatory site walk observation by the bidder.

Part One – Add Drainage Culvert scope of work is as follows:

  • Culvert Construction Furnish Traffic Control Devices and Flagman as Needed
  • Provide Full Depth Sawcut, Approximately 60’
  • Excavate Existing Asphalt, Base, and Unclassified Material, Dispose Off-Site
  • Excavate Existing Shoulder and Regrade to Allow for Installation of Culvert End Section
  • Furnish & Install 30’ 18” HDPE
  • Furnish & Install (2) Galvanized Steel End Sections w/ Grates
  • Furnish & Install Geotextile Separation Fabric at End Sections
  • Furnish & Install 4”+ Rip Rap 6’ from Drain Opening and 10’ Wide
  • Backfill & Compacts using Approved NYSDOT Subbase
  • Raise Road Finished Level As Determined Possible in Field or Approx. 3” at Lowest Point
  • Furnish & Install 4” Base, 2 ½” Binder, and 1 ½” NYSDOT Approved Asphalt Curses
  • Restore Disturbed Area with Seed

Part Two – Road Erosion Repair scope of work is as follows:

  • Furnish Traffic Control Devices and Flagman as Needed
  • Provide Full Depth Sawcut, Approximately 30’
  • Remove 20’ x 4’ Area at Roadway
  • Excavate Existing Asphalt, Base, and Unclassified Material, Dispose Off-Site
  • Regrade, Compact Existing Shoulder
  • Furnish & Install Geotextile Separation Fabric at Shoulder
  • Furnish & Install 4”+ Rip Rap at Shoulder
  • Backfill & Compacts using Approved NYSDOT Subbase
  • Furnish & Install 4” Base, 2 ½” Binder, and 1 ½” NYSDOT Approved Asphalt Curses

Bids are to include all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform the work described above.

SCHEDULE:

Completion is to be before December 31, 2025.

Contactor to provide preliminary schedule for lead time of all main materials with their bid.

Work not included in the work of the Contract are those outside of the area of work.

SECTION B ? Alternates

  1. General

  1. Refer to Proposal Form. State thereon the amount to be added to or deducted from the Total Bid for the Alternates described herein.

  1. Extent and details of the Alternates are indicated on the Drawings, and described in the Specifications.

  1. Where reference is made in the description of the Alternate to products, materials, or workmanship, the specification requirements applicable to similar products, materials or workmanship in the Total Bid shall govern the products, materials, and workmanship of the Alternate as if these specification requirements were included in full in the description of the Alternates.

  1. ADD Alternates

  • MAINTAIN one vehicular passable road lane at all times and provide and place NYSDOT road work signage and flagmen as required for such.
