Description:

The City of Manhattan, through Sunset Zoo, a division of the Parks and Recreation Department, is requesting qualifications and proposals from qualified firms to provide Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) services for the Lemur and Americas Exhibits project at Sunset Zoo. This project generally includes a new lemur habitat with animal holding and public viewing areas; new and/or renovated Americas exhibit habitats with animal holding and public viewing areas; community/event gathering space and restrooms; infrastructure improvements; ADA-accessible pedestrian walkways and lighting; and associated site improvements, grading, and landscaping. Qualifications:

A mandatory pre-proposal meeting and site tour will be held April 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sunset Zoo Nature Exploration Center, 2333 Oak Street, Manhattan, Kansas 66502. Firms must RSVP no later than April 21, 2026, by emailing Alfonso Leyva at alfonso.leyva@cityofmhk.com and providing the names and titles of all attendees. Questions regarding this RFQ/RFP should be submitted in writing to Alfonso Leyva as well until 5:00 PM on April 30, 2026. Responses to questions will be issued by addendum through the Drexel Technologies Plan Room.

Special Requirements:

Submittals will be received at the City Clerk’s Office, 1101 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502, until 4:00 PM on May 13, 2026. Interested firms shall provide seven (7) printed copies and one (1) electronic copy of the complete submission. Submissions shall be enclosed in a sealed package clearly marked: “RFQ/RFP Submission – CMAR – Lemur and Americas Exhibits, Sunset Zoo, Project No. PR2510.” The City will not accept oral submissions or copies received by telephone or facsimile. All submissions received after the deadline will be returned unopened.
