1.0 Introduction
The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is seeking to procure an emergency generator that
will support the USM Physical Plant and Residence Life Maintenance Building, in the event of a
campus-wide power failure. Vendors: Generac Generator and Taylor Generator are USM approved
suppliers. All other generator suppliers must meet or exceed these minimum specifications to be
considered.

3.0 Generator/ATS Work Specifications
• Furnish and the installation of a 300KW Generator with (2) 600amp ATS switches
• 300KW generator to be located at SE corner of existing Physical Plant building (605)
• Install (1) of the 600a SER, NEMA 3R, ATS outside of Physical Plant building adjacent to
electrical room near existing Pad Transformer. The ATS will provide power for Physical
Plant(605) and Physical Plant motor pool(610).
• Install the 2nd 600a SER, NEMA 3R, ATS at the NE corner of the Furniture Shop (615) west
of the existing Transformer. The ATS will provide power to the Furniture Shop(615) and
Residence Life(629) buildings.
• Boring (2) 4” conduits beginning at generator site and ending at 2nd ATS location (east side
of furniture shop transformer.
• Provide a pad for the generator and each of the ATS. The generator and the ATS’s are to
be anchored to the slab.
• Building connection will be done after normal business hours

Taylor Power Systems DGC-2020 digital genset controller provides integrated engine-
genset control, protection, and metering in a single package. Microprocessor based
technology allows for exact measurement, setpoint adjustment, and timing functions.
Front panel controls and indicators enable quick and simple DGC-2020 operation. A wide
temperature-range liquid crystal display (LCD) with backlighting can be viewed under a
wide range of ambient light and temperature conditions. Taylor Power Systems also
supplies a manual key override bypass switch that allows you to start the generator
