The City of Newton, Iowa, is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to prepare a quote for the repairs to the main entrance soffit at the Newton Public Library, 100 N 3rd Ave W.

Project Description

The City of Newton is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to furnish all labor, material, and equipment for the proposed repairs to the soffit near the main entrance of the Newton Public Library. Proposed repairs include refastening the existing soffit utilizing the eight (8) existing 2 in. x 4 in. boards (which the soffit is attached) to the building structure.  A fastener spacing of 24" is proposed based on the original plan sheet, but the proper spacing will depend on the actual framing structure.  Contractor shall be required to field verify the framing structure and location.  All original building plans will be available to improve understanding of current conditions.  A portion of the original plans is attached to this RFP.  The area of the proposed repairs is within the first 12 feet south of the south glass wall on both the east and west sides of the main entrance.

The proposed lump sum cost should include all necessary components and supplies to complete the proposed repairs.
