The Classification and Total Compensation Study aims to evaluate the existing job classification and total rewards compensation structures of the City of Cambridge (the “City”) to provide viable options and strategies to enhance the City’s ability to attract and retain a highly qualified and motivated workforce over the next five to ten years. The goal of the study is to review and recommend changes to the City’s current classification and total compensation structures to ensure that all positions within the City’s government are internally equitable and externally competitive for our geographic region.
The City is soliciting competitive sealed proposals for a qualified and experienced human resources consulting organization (with an emphasis on compensation/benefits analysis) or individuals to provide professional services to conduct a compensation and classification study. The final report should include recommendations and a suggested implementation and maintenance process, along with a well-designed salary structure that will help the City attract and retain talented employees, establish a clear and consistent approach to compensation, and assist with managing compensation costs, while providing fiscal transparency of employees’ salaries and minimizing the risk of pay discrimination and/ or subsequent legal challenges related to pay inequities
