The City of Waco will receive sealed bids for RFB 2018-072 "Water Utilities Fire Hydrant Maintenance" in the Office of Purchasing Services at the Operations Center, 1415 N. 4th Street, Waco, TX 76707, until 2:00 p.m. (CST), Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

Clarifications & Questions and Answers from the pre-bid meeting and thereafter:
1. Are Bid Bonds required for this project? Yes, they are required.
2. Are performance and payment bonds required for this project? Performance and Payment
Bonds are only required of the contractor who is awarded the project.
3. Are aftermarket fire hydrants or fire hydrant parts required for this project? No. Only
original manufacturer’s parts will be allowed on this project.
4. Does the City only want domestically manufactured parts used on this project? No. Only
original manufacturer’s parts will be used on this project, regardless of the place of
manufacturing.
5. All chains on the fire hydrants to be removed? Yes.
6. Is the City supplying the reflectors to be installed? The City will be supplying the reflectors
and the adhesive needed to install the reflectors.
7. What type of adhesive is to be used to install the reflectors? Epoxy or tape? The adhesive
used will be either epoxy or tape whichever comes with our package of reflectors.
8. Is a Professional Engineer stamped traffic control plan is to be supplied for this project?
Yes
9. Can subcontractors be used on this project? No subcontracting out any work for this project.
10. What type of warranty is expected of the contractor for the fire hydrant and valve repairs?
The warranty for this project will be as follows: (1) Parts: Manufacturer’s Warranty for replaced
fire hydrants and parts (one year minimum). Labor: 60 Day Warranty on labor for fire hydrant
repairs
11. Should missing oil just be replaced in the fire hydrants? Yes. The contractor is to first
determine the cause of the missing oil, make the appropriate repair, then replace the missing oil.
The oil is to be food grade.
12. For line items 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. Is the city supplying the materials? No, the City
will not be supplying the materials for these bid items.
13. If the city is not supplying all hydrant parts, are aftermarket parts acceptable? The City
will not be supplying hydrant parts. No aftermarket parts will be allowed on this project.
