Residential Waste Collection & Recycling

Residential Waste Collection for the Town of High Prairie, Alberta

The current agreement for residential waste collection and the recycling program expires December 31st, 2024. The Town of High Prairie is currently seeking proposals from interested waste and recyclable contractors for the collection and removal of residential waste and recyclables.

Contractors are to base their proposals in regard to the following:

Residential Waste Contract:

Removal and hauling of residential waste to N.W. ¼ Section 9-73-15-WSM, to the High Prairie & District Regional Waste Management Facility (Approximately 23 kilometers southeast of High Prairie).

All garbage pickups shall be made on Mondays each week, with the successful
contractor to provide collection of Statutory Holidays if they fall on the Monday.

Residential Recycling Contract:

-The successful contractor is to provide waterproof bins for the purpose of recycling.
-Replacement bins shall be supplied by the contractor.
-If additional bins are necessary because of an imbalance of material collected, they shall
be provided by the contractor.
-Weekly emptying of the recycle bins or on an as required basis to ensure the recycling
containers are not overflowing.
-The recycling proposal shall be for a five (5) year period starting January 1st, 2025, and
ending on December 31, 2030.
-The successful contractor shall have the option of extending the Terms of Agreement for
a further one (1) year term.

Fees for both are to be calculated on a monthly fee for single family and duplex residential units (Approximately 900 Units)

Contractors have the following options available in submitting proposals:

i)Residential garbage pickup and disposal
ii)Recycling proposals
iii)Both - Residential garbage pickup and disposals & Recycling proposals

Proposals must be submitted to the Town office prior to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4th, 2024. Submissions must be identified as “Town of High Prairie Residential Waste Collection Proposals” and made to the attention of CAO, Chief Administrative Officer , Box 179 High Prairie, Alberta T0G 1E0.
