Request for Specialty Waterline Utility Locating Services

The City of Montrose is requesting proposals for consultants or vendors to perform specialized waterline utility locating services.  The City owns and operates approximately 3,000 LF of 16 inch asbestos cement waterline extending down East Main Street (US Hwy 50 with approximately 10,000 vehicles per day) between San Juan and Hillcrest Avenues.  The line was constructed in the mid 70's without any tracing wire or valves.  Conventional locating methods such as service tracing, mainline tracing, and standard ground penetrating radar have been unable to locate the line with any degree of certainty.  The line is estimated to be at 5 to 6 feet of bury under the following soil profile: 10" asphalt, 2' road base, and moist/saturated adobe clay (sandy silt with clay).
