Description:

|
The City of Independence invites qualified engineering firms to submit a proposal for the engineering design and construction oversight of a drainage and slope stabilization project surrounding the antique locomotive in Riverside Park.
The locomotive is located approximately 100 feet to the northwest of the Riverside Park office. The locomotive is set at a lower elevation than the surrounding street, with an asphalt four-way intersection located just to the south. Runoff from the higher elevation surfaces has caused issues with drainage and erosion of the stream bank on the north end of the locomotive. Erosion has caused the slope to become unstable, which causes a safety risk to park patrons. The project encompasses engineering work to provide the most effective and feasible solution for improving drainage, stabilizing the slope, and installing a barrier to keep park patrons safe.
