Project Description: This Request for Information (RFI) (Notice of Intent to Designate Sole Source) is to determine if the specified commodity or service is available from multiple providers, or if an alternate commodity or service is available that would meet the County’s needs. This is not a request for pricing or a purchase commitment.
The following commodity or service is thought to be available from only a sole source (or reasonable source) and is the only commodity/services that meets the County’s needs:
Travel Market Insights, Inc.; (TMII) International Visitation Data for overseas countries, including Canada and Mexico
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB), also known as Visit promotes the Greater Fort Lauderdale area as a premier year-round leisure and meeting destination. Greater Fort Lauderdale welcomes visitors from across the globe, and nearly 50% of those visitors are from Canada.
The GFLCVB is requesting Reasonable Source approval for Travel Market Insights, Inc. (TMII) to provide international visitor data, including from Canada and Mexico. This data will enable Visit Lauderdale to:
• Estimate the economic impact of international visitors on Broward County on a country-by-country basis, and
• Assess the potential impacts of reduced Canadian travel resulting from U.S. government-imposed tariffs or related threats
Additionally, in 2026, Visit Fort Lauderdale will host an International Pow Wow (IPW) Conference. In anticipation of this event, estimation of Canadian and Mexican data as well as the other overseas countries are critical to measurement of the level of international travel to Broward County. As such, TMII could provide access to Canada-United States visitation numbers that are unique and critical to determining the return on investment for the 2026 IPW Conference.
The scope of services performed by TMII includes, but are not limited to:
- Provide Visit Fort Lauderdale with visitor profiles (characteristics and demographics) and volumetrics for County to establish a strategic plan pre- and post IPW 2026; 2024-2027
- Provide subscription to overseas, Canadian and Mexican Travel Data
- Provide real-time dashboard with 24/7 availability that measures the volume and changes to visitation from other countries at individual and regional levels
- Provides travel spend at the country-specific or regional level
This RFI will remain posted until closing date and time.
Prospective Vendors are requested to provide information regarding their ability to provide the commodity or service described or written explanation or other documentation contesting the proposed RFI designation.
If you are capable of meeting or exceeding the County’s requirements for the specified commodity or service, respond to this RFI through the electronic bidding system. Vendor should upload any supporting information in the electronic bidding system as part of its response to assist the County in determining if commodity or service is comparable, is available from multiple suppliers, and meets the County’s needs. The Director of Purchasing shall have sole authority in deciding what is comparable.
The Director of Purchasing shall consider such submittals and notify all submitting vendors (thru the electronic bidding system) of the decision whether to designate as a Sole Source/Brand, which decision shall not be subject to objection, protest, or appeal.
