The San Mateo Resource Conservation District (RCD), in partnership with County of San Mateo Department of Public Works, welcomes contractors to bid on the Little Butano Creek at Cloverdale Road (Site 190) Sediment Reduction and Habitat Enhancement Project in unincorporated San Mateo County. This project will restore fish migration access, improve instream habitat, and reduce sediment inputs on Little Butano Creek in the Pescadero‑Butano watershed.

The existing Cloverdale Road culvert and concrete grade‑control structures limit fish passage and have contributed to sediment buildup, channel incision, and stream instability. One culvert barrel is partially filled with sediment, reducing hydraulic capacity and increasing impacts to fish and channel conditions.

The project will remove these barriers and restore natural channel and habitat features to improve fish passage, stabilize the stream, reduce erosion and sediment delivery, and enhance climate resilience. Upon completion, the project will provide access to approximately 0.74 miles of upstream habitat for threatened and endangered salmonids.

Major work elements include: removal of concrete grade‑control structures; excavation of accumulated sediment from the culvert; installation of a low‑flow sill; reconstruction of upstream and downstream channel segments to meet fish passage criteria; construction of resting pools and large wood habitat features; streambank stabilization; and restoration of disturbed areas with native vegetation and erosion control measures.

A mandatory pre-bid tour will be held at the project site. Attendance is required for all bidders. RSVPs for the pre-bid tour are required.

When: Friday, May 1, 2026 from 12 to 2 p.m.

Where: Cloverdale Rd, Pescadero (exact location and directions to be shared with pre-bid tour RSVP)
