Replacement of West Main Street Bridge over Moyer Creek & Moyer Creek Stream Improvements at West Main Street

The project includes removing and replacing the existing bridge carrying West Main Street over Moyer Creek. The new structure will consist of a multiple adjacent prestressed concrete box beam superstructure with concrete deck. The substructure will consist of integral abutments supported on drilled micropiles. The existing concrete encased steel girders and substructure will be completely removed. All traffic will be detoured around the site to provide for a full road closure of West Main Street during construction. The project includes approximately 200 feet of full depth reconstruction.

The Contractor will be allowed to entirely close the West Main Street Bridge during construction. Supplemental instructions are included in the Contract Drawings modifying the staged construction details shown in the Contract 1A Drawings.

The project also includes approximately 650 feet of stream channel improvements, including lowering the streambed up to 6 feet at the existing dam downstream of the bridge. The new channel walls will consist of approximately 850 feet of soldier pile walls, approximately 75 feet of stacked stone retaining walls, and approximately 350 feet of armored stone banks.
