Replacement of Cortland Street Bridge over Owasco Inlet

The work under Contract No. 1 – Replacement of Cortland Street Bridge over Owasco Inlet (BIN 2263090) for Tompkins County is located in the Village of Groton between the intersections of Conger Boulevard and Main Street with West Cortland Street.

The project includes the replacement of the existing dual pipe culverts with a prestressed concrete beam superstructure with an asphalt wearing surface found on concrete integral abutments on micropiles. New soldier pile and concrete lagging panels will be installed at the four corners of the bridge. The bridge will carry a sidewalk at the south edge of the structure. There will be approximately 250 feet of full depth approach reconstruction with an additional 100 feet of milling and resurfacing to tie the proposed bridge into the existing roadway. New storm sewer and guide rail will be installed within the project limits. A new water main and gas main will be carried by the bridge. Traffic will be maintained on an off-site detour for the duration of construction.
