    PERGOLA REPLACEMENT - SPECIFICATIONS
    I. SCOPE OF WORK
    1. Gwinnett County Department of Parks and Recreation is soliciting competitive quotes from
    qualified contractors for a pergola removal and installation at Hudlow Tennis Center, located
    at Best Friend Park. The successful contractor shall furnish all labor and materials required to
    remove and install a new pergola for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
    II. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
    1. Contractor is responsible for removing ALL construction debris and disposing of it off
    premises according to all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
    2. The contractor shall remove all joist, rotten structural beams, hangers, ties, and brackets, and
    install new wood, beams, hangers, ties, and structural hardware.
    3. The contractor shall provide and use all recommended tools per manufacturer's
    specifications.
    4. The use of products other than those indicated in Section III Materials must be pre-approved
    by the Gwinnett County representative. All products must be applied according to the
    manufacturer's specifications. Any proposed substitution must be submitted with the quote
    and must include specifications, colors, warranty, and any other information necessary for
    evaluation. The County may reject the quote if this information is not provided.
    III. MATERIALS
    The successful contractor shall provide the materials below.
    * 2" x 10" x 24' double beams
    * 42 pergola joists with decorative ends to match existing ends
    * Include hurricane ties brackets and structural hardware
    IV. INSTALLATION
    1. The double 2" x 10" x 24' joist shall be installed on existing fiberglass columns.
    2. Replace all joists, rotted structural beams, hurricane ties, and brackets.
    3. Pressure wash and prepare for paint and caulk if needed.
    4. Prime and paint.
    V. SPECIAL CONDITIONS
    1. Contractor shall use extra care when working around glass doors and windows.
    2. Any damage incurred during removal and installation is the contractor's responsibility to repair.
    3. Contractor must provide at least one employee that can effectively communicate with onsite
    staff and County staff.

    VI. WORK CONSTRAINTS
    1. The affected area will be closed to the public, but the remainder of the facility and park will be
    open to the public.
    2. Precautions should be taken to block off, barricade, or cover in-process work areas to protect
    the surrounding area and general public. If any temporary fencing is needed, the contractor is
    responsible for providing.
    3. Measurements stated in this document are approximate. The contractor shall be responsible
    for obtaining accurate measurements and to become familiar with the conditions of the site
    prior to submitting a quote.
    4. Hours of work will be agreed upon by the contractor and County staff but generally would be
    from 7:30 am-4pm Monday - Friday. Hours could vary depending on location.
    VII. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
    1. WORK SITE CLEANLINESS
    The contractor shall keep the worksite clean daily, free of debris, and maintain a level of cleanliness
    and neatness needed for proper execution of work. The contractor shall keep completed areas clean
    and protected from damage for the duration of the project. When all work for the project is
    completed, the contractor shall clean the site of debris, waste material, and litter, including disposal
    offsite according to EPA regulations; remove all tools, equipment, and surplus materials from the
    project site; and remove any temporary protection installed during the project. A final walkthrough
    of the project must be scheduled after completion with a designated County representative.
    2. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
    a. The contractor shall take proper precautions to prevent fires and to facilitate firefighting
    operations.
    b. The contractor shall store flammable materials in non-combustible containers and store them
    away from potential fire sources and remove flammable waste regularly.
    c. The contractor should carefully supervise the operation of potential fire sources.
    d. The contractor shall take proper precautions to prevent accidents due to physical hazards, and
    provide barricades and signs as required to protect contractor's personnel and the public from
    hazards and to inform them of same. Barricades and signage shall comply with all safety
    regulations.
    e. The contractor shall provide and require the use of safety equipment, clothing, and accessories
    as required by the construction activity and applicable safety regulations.
    3. WARRANTY
    The contactor must warrant the work, labor, and materials, for a period of one (1) year after
    completion of this project. This warranty shall be in addition to any warranties provided by the
    product manufacturers.
    4. REFERENCES
    The selected contractor must have demonstrated successful performance on projects of a similar
    size and scope. A minimum of three (3) references shall be provided on the "References" form
    included herein. References must clearly demonstrate the successful completion of similar projects
    within the past five (5) years.

    to complete the total job at given location. The site is open to the public. It is strongly encouraged that
    interested contractors visit the site prior to submitting a quote to take measurements.
    A pre-quote conference has not been scheduled for this project. The site is open to the public for contractors
    to view. The County strongly encourages interested contractors to visit the site prior to submitting a quote.
