PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE RELOCATED BY THE RESPECTIVE UTILITY COMPANY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ANY
UTILITY MODIFICATIONS WITH THE PROJECT WORK POTABLE WATER MAIN MODIFICATIONS ARE TO BE COMPLETED BY THE
CONTRACTOR AND COORDINATED WITH VOLUSIA COUNTY WATER UTILITIES PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE WORK. ANY DELAY,
INCONVENIENCE, OR EXPENSE CAUSED TO THE CONTRACTOR BY THE RELOCATION OF VARIOUS UTILITIES SHALL BE INCIDENTAL TO THE
CONTRACT, AND NO EXTRA COMPENSATION WILL BE ALLOWED.
THE FLORIDA STATUTES (F.S.556) REQUIRES THAT AN EXCAVATOR NOTIFY ALL GAS UTILITY COMPANIES A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) WORKING
DAYS PRIOR TO EXCAVATING. THE ONLY SAFE AND RELIABLE WAY TO LOCATE EITHER THE MAINS OR SERVICE LINES IS BY ONSITE
INSPECTION BY GAS COMPANY PERSONNEL. THEREFORE, EXCAVATORS ARE DIRECTED TO TELEPHONE THE GAS COMPANY TWO (2)
WORKING DAYS BEFORE ENTERING A NEW CONSTRUCTION AREA.
“Florida Law (F.S. 556) Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act mandates that excavators/contractors shall contact Sunshine
811 (fka: Sunshine State one-Call of Florida) by calling 800-432-4770 or 811 at least 2 full business days prior to beginning any excavation or
demolition to allow member operators an opportunity to identify and mark their underground facilities and appropriately response to the
Positive Response System.”
THE OWNER SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO SALVAGE MATERIAL OR EQUIPMENT. ALL MATERIAL OR EQUIPMENT NOT SALVAGED BY THE
OWNER SHALL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE PROMPTLY REMOVED FROM THE SITE.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFORM WITH ALL INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS OF THE VOLUSIA COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AND CITY OF
ORANGE CITY. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS SHALL RESULT IN NON-ACCEPTANCE OF SPECIFIC WORK ITEMS.
AS-BUILTS:
AS-BUILTS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO THE ENGINEER TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO FINAL INSPECTION. ALL AS-BUILT DATA
SHALL BE PROVIDED BY A FLORIDA LICENSED SURVEYOR, SIGNED, SEALED AND DATED BY THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY.
LAYOUT AND CONTROL:
UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE PLANS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL USE THE GEOMETRY PROVIDED ON THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS.
BENCHMARK INFORMATION SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE CONTRACTOR BY THE OWNER OR OWNER'S SURVEYOR. ANY DISCREPANCIES
BETWEEN FIELD MEASUREMENTS AND CONSTRUCTION PLAN INFORMATION SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER
IMMEDIATELY.
QUALITY CONTROL TESTING REQUIREMENTS:
TESTING REPORTS SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE OWNER/OPERATOR AND THE ENGINEER. TESTING REQUIREMENTS ARE TO BE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE OWNER/OPERATOR'S SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS. ALL TEST RESULTS SHALL BE PROVIDED (PASSING
AND FAILING) ON A REGULAR AND IMMEDIATE BASIS.
SHOP DRAWINGS:
SHOP DRAWINGS AND CERTIFICATIONS FOR ALL STORM DRAINAGE PIPE AND, STRUCTURES, SPECIALTY SURFACING MATERIALS AND
OTHER APPURTENANCES SHALL BE REQUIRED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS TO THE ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL
PRIOR TO ORDERING THE MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION.
STORMWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
OWNER/OPERATOR:
THE VOLUSIA COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD WILL OWN, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN THE STORM SYSTEM SHOWN ON THESE PLANS. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE EXPECTED TO MEET ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD.
MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS:
ALL MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION METHODS ARE TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND
BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION (LATEST EDITION), SECTION 400 (CONCRETE STRUCTURES) AND THE APPLICABLE FDOT INDEX NUMBER DETAIL
AS SHOWN IN FDOT ROADWAY AND TRAFFIC DESIGN STANDARDS (LATEST EDITION).
ALL OTHER RELATED ITEMS REQUIRED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE STORM SYSTEM (OUTFALL PROTECTION, POLLUTION CONTROL,
ETC.) ARE TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH DETAILS SHOWN ON THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS, FDOT ROADWAY AND TRAFFIC DESIGN
STANDARDS AND FDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROADWAY AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION (LATEST EDITION).
SOAKER SWALE CONSTRUCTION:
SOAKER SWALES SHALL BE EXCAVATED AS SHOWN ON THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS. IN THE EVENT THAT HARDPAN, CLAYEY, OR SILTY
MATERIALS ARE ENCOUNTERED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SWALE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ENGINEER
FOR INSPECTION OF THE MATERIALS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SOD THE SOAKER SWALE PER THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS
IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING FINAL GRADING. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THE SOD UNTIL FINAL ACCEPTANCE BY THE
OWNER/OPERATOR.
AS-BUILTS:
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE OWNER AND ENGINEER STORM DRAINAGE AS-BUILTS. AS-BUILTS SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE
LIMITED TO THE STRUCTURE TOP ELEVATIONS, INV. ELEVATIONS, PIPE LENGTH AND RETENTION POND DIMENSIONS, AND ELEVATIONS
AT THE TOP OF BANK AND BOTTOM OF SLOPE.
EARTHWORK
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BASE HIS BID ON HIS OWN ESTIMATE OF EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL QUANTITIES AND IMPLICATION THAT
EARTHWORK BALANCES AND THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY IMPORT FILL NEEDED, OR FOR REMOVAL AND
DISPOSAL OF EXCESS MATERIALS.
EROSION CONTROL:
EROSION AND SILTATION CONTROL MEASURES ARE TO BE PROVIDED AND INSTALLED PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION.
THESE MEASURES ARE TO BE INSPECTED BY THE CONTRACTOR ON A REGULAR BASIS AND ARE TO BE MAINTAINED OR REPAIRED ON AN
IMMEDIATE BASIS AS REQUIRED. REFER TO THE WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT PERMIT FOR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR
EROSION CONTROL AND SURFACE DRAINAGE.
LIMITS OF DISTURBANCE:
THE LIMITS OF DISTURBANCE HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO THE CONTRACTOR ON THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS. UNLESS OTHERWISE
DIRECTED BY THE OWNER OR ENGINEER, THE CONTRACTOR IS EXPECTED TO CONTAIN ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES WITHIN THESE
LIMITS. AT NO TIME SHALL THE CONTRACTOR DISTURB SURROUNDING PROPERTIES OR TRAVEL ON SURROUNDING PROPERTIES
WITHOUT WRITTEN CONSENT FROM THE PROPERTY OWNER. ANY REPAIR OR RECONSTRUCTION OF DAMAGED AREAS IN SURROUNDING
PROPERTIES SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR IMMEDIATELY. ALL COSTS FOR REPAIRS SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR AND NO EXTRA COMPENSATION SHALL BE PROVIDED.
CLEARING AND GRUBBING:
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEARING AND GRUBBING FOR SITE CONSTRUCTION INCLUDING CLEARING FOR
PAVING, AND DRAINAGE FACILITIES.
MATERIALS STORAGE/DEBRIS REMOVAL:
ALL MATERIALS EXCAVATED SHALL REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THE OWNER AND SHALL BE STOCKPILED AT ON-SITE LOCATIONS AS
SPECIFIED BY THE OWNER. MATERIALS SHALL BE STOCKPILED SEPARATELY AS TO USABLE (NON-ORGANIC) FILL STOCKPILES AND
ORGANIC (MUCK) STOCKPILES IF MUCK IS ENCOUNTERED. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMOVAL OF ALL
UNSUITABLE FILL MATERIALS FROM THE SITE.
FILL MATERIAL:
ALL FILL MATERIALS SHALL CONTAIN NO MUCK, STUMPS, ROOTS, BRUSH, VEGETATIVE MATTER, RUBBISH OR OTHER MATERIALS THAT
WILL NOT COMPACT INTO A SUITABLE AND ENDURING BACKFILL.
COMPACTION:
FILL MATERIALS PLACED UNDER PAVEMENT AND SIDEWALKS SHALL BE COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 98% MAXIMUM DENSITY AS SPECIFIED
IN AASHTO T-180. ALL OTHER FILL AREAS ARE TO BE COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 95% MAXIMUM DENSITY AS SPECIFIED IN AASHTO T-180.
FILL MATERIALS SHALL BE PLACED AND COMPACTED IN A MAXIMUM OF 12" LIFTS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE ENGINEER
AND OWNER WITH ALL (PASSING AND FAILING) TESTING RESULTS. RESULTS SHALL BE PROVIDED ON A TIMELY AND REGULAR BASIS
PRIOR TO CONTRACTOR'S PAY REQUEST SUBMITTAL.
SURFACE DRAINAGE:
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE EXPECTED, AT THE END OF EACH DAY, TO HAVE THE SITE GRADED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO NOT CAUSE ANY
ADVERSE IMPACT FROM RUNOFF OR SILTATION TO ANY ADJACENT PROPERTIES. SILTATION BARRIERS SHALL BE MAINTAINED AND
REPAIRED IF REQUIRED AT THE END OF EACH WORKING DAY.
GRADING SHOWN ON THESE PLANS ARE PROVIDED TO THE CONTRACTOR TO EXPRESS THE GENERAL GRADING INTENT OF THE
PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE EXPECTED TO GRADE THE ENTIRE SITE TO PROVIDE POSITIVE DRAINAGE IN ALL AREAS
THROUGHOUT THE SITE. SMOOTH TRANSITIONS SHALL BE PROVIDED BETWEEN CONTOURS OR SPOT ELEVATIONS AS SHOWN ON THE
PLANS TO ACCOMPLISH THE GRADING INTENT. ALL SLOPES SHALL BE SODDED IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINAL GRADING HAS BEEN
COMPLETED. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY OWNER AND ENGINEER PRIOR TO DEMOBILIZATION OF GRADING EQUIPMENT TO DETERMINE
THAT THE GRADING INTENT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED.
PAVEMENT
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BASE HIS BID ON HIS OWN ESTIMATE OF PAVEMENT QUANTITIES AND RELATED APPURTENANCES.
OWNER/OPERATOR:
THE ENTITY THAT WILL OWN, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN THE WORK SHOWN ON THESE PLANS IS THE VOLUSIA COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE EXPECTED TO MEET ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THAT ENTITY.
MATERIAL/CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS:
MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION METHODS FOR THE PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FDOT STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION (LATEST EDITION).
PAVEMENT SECTION REQUIREMENTS:
SEE TYPICAL PAVEMENT DETAIL ON PLAN SHEET ON C-500.
SIDEWALKS:
SIDEWALKS ARE TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN THE AREAS AS SHOWN ON THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS. THE SIDEWALK SHALL BE
CONSTRUCTED OF 4" THICK CONCRETE WITH A 28-DAY COMPRESSION STRENGTH OF 3000 PSI. JOINTS SHALL BE EITHER TOOLED OR
SAWCUT AT EVERY 10' INTERVAL. HANDICAPPED RAMPS SHALL BE PROVIDED AT ALL INTERSECTIONS AND BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
STATE REGULATIONS FOR HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY.
CURBING:
CURBING SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED WHERE NOTED ON THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS. CONCRETE FOR CURBS SHALL BE FLA.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION CLASS "1" CONCRETE WITH A 28-DAY COMPRESSION STRENGTH OF 3000 PSI. ALL CURBS SHALL
HAVE SAW CUT CONTRACTION JOINTS AND SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED AT INTERVALS NOT TO EXCEED 10'- 0" ON CENTER. CONSTRUCTION
OF CURBS SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH FDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION (LATEST
EDITION) SECTION 520 AND DETAILS PROVIDED ON THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS.
RESTORATION:
ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE FINISH GRADED WITH A SMOOTH TRANSITION INTO EXISTING GROUND. ALL SWALES SHALL BE
STABILIZED IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINAL GRADING. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE STABILIZED (SOD, GRASS & MULCH, ETC.) AFTER
FINAL GRADING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS PRIOR TO FINAL INSPECTION. ALL GRASSING (SEED OR SOD) SHALL
BE MAINTAINED BY THE CONTRACTOR UNTIL FINAL ACCEPTANCE BY THE OWNER/OPERATOR.
AS-BUILTS:
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE OWNER AND ENGINEER PAVEMENT AS-BUILTS. AS-BUILTS SHALL CONTAIN AT A MINIMUM, BUT
NOT BE LIMITED TO, PAVEMENT WIDTHS, CROSS SLOPES AND DRAINAGE DIRECTIONS WITH HIGH POINTS DELINEATED.
CONSTRUCTION METHODS
TRENCH SAFETY:
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RECOGNIZE AND ABIDE BY ALL OSHA EXCAVATION SAFETY STANDARDS, INCLUDING THE FLORIDA TRENCH
SAFETY ACT (90-96, LAWS OF FLORIDA). ANY MATERIAL, CONSTRUCTION METHODS, OR MATERIAL COST TO COMPLY WITH THESE LAWS
SHALL BE INCIDENTAL TO THE CONTRACT.
TRENCH OR EXCAVATION BOTTOM STABILIZATION MATERIAL:
A. SAND
SAND SHALL BE WELL GRADED, ORGANIC FREE, DURABLE, GRANULAR MATERIAL, AND SHALL PASS A NO. 4 SIEVE. NOT MORE THAN
15 PERCENT SHALL PASS A NO. 200 SIEVE.

THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES TO

TREE REMOVAL
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL SYNTHETIC STRAW BALES AT ALL EXISTING
INLETS AND SHALL REPLACE THEM AS NECESSARY TO REDUCE SILT DEPOSITS IN
PIPES AND INLETS. AFTER THE WORK IS COMPLETE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
CLEAN ALL PIPES AND INLETS OF ACCUMULATED SILT AND DEBRIS AND SHALL
REMOVE ALL TEMPORARY EROSION IMPROVEMENTS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
INSTALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES TO PROTECT SURROUNDING
PROPERTIES.
2. PRIOR TO COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR SHALL WALK THE SITE
WITH THE OWNER'S PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE AND SHALL FLAG TREES AND
OTHER VEGETATION TO BE PRESERVED AND PROTECTED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
BUFFER AREAS ARE TO BE LEFT UNDISTURBED AND IN NATURAL CONDITION. ALL
TREES SHALL BE SAVED IF THEY DO NOT POSE A CONFLICT WITH PROPOSED
UTILITIES, PAVEMENT, SIDEWALKS OR REGRADING OF SIDE SLOPES TO EXISTING
GRADE. ALL TREES TO BE RETAINED SHALL BE BARRICADED TO A POINT WHERE
EXPOSED ROOTS SHALL BE PROTECTED (6' MIN. RADIUS) PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE SITE TO FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH THE SITE
CONDITIONS WHICH MAY AFFECT HIS BID. ANY SIGNIFICANT CONFLICTS AND/OR
VARIATIONS OF THE FIELD CONDITIONS DIFFERING FROM THE PLANS SHALL BE
BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER FOR VERIFICATION AND
DIRECTION PRIOR TO THE BID. UPON SUBMISSION OF BID IT IS ASSUMED THAT THE
CONTRACTOR HAS INSPECTED THE SITE AND HAS INCLUDED ALL THE NECESSARY
WORK ITEMS TO COMPLY WITH THE PLANS IN HIS BID.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN COPIES OF ALL PERMITS AND COMPLY WITH ALL
PROVISIONS THERIN (IF APPLICABLE). LIKEWISE HE SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
COORDINATING CONSTRUCTION INSPECTIONS WITH THE SEMINOLE COUNTY.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY SAFETY MEASURES AND
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC, STAFF AND OTHER PERSONS
THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF HIS WORK.
6. THE OWNER SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO SALVAGE EXISTING MATERIAL OR
EQUIPMENT ON-SITE. ALL MATERIAL OR EQUIPMENT NOT SALVAGED BY THE
OWNER SHALL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND BE PROMPTLY
REMOVED FROM THE SITE.
7. ALL EXCAVATIONS SHALL BE STAKED AND PROBED PRIOR TO ACTUAL WORK.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DRAW HIS /HER CONCLUSIONS CONCERNING THE NEED
FOR DEWATERING OR OTHER EARTHWORK EQUIPMENT, METHOD AND
PROCEDURES TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORK SHOWN ON THIS PLANS. THESE COSTS
SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE BID PRICES FURNISHED TO THE OWNER. NO
ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR DEWATERING WILL BE APPROVED. IF
DEWATERING IS NECESSARY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL USE PUMPS WITH A
CAPACITY OF LESS THAN 895 GPM AND WITH A DISCHARGE PIPE OF LESS THAN
6"Ø, AND LESS THAN 30 WELL POINTS (AND OTHER THRESHOLDS ESTABLISHED
BY THE WATER MG'MT. DISTRICT). THE INTENTION OF THIS REQUIREMENT IS TO
PRECLUDE THE NEED FOR A DEWATERING CONSUMPTIVE USE PERMIT. IF THE
CONTRACTOR TRIPS ANY DEWATERING THRESHOLD, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN ALL APPLICABLE DEWATERING PERMIT FROM
APPLICABLE PERMITTING AGENCIES ON HIS OWN TIME AND AT HIS OWN EXPENSE.
9. ALL UNFORESEEN UNDERGROUND UTILITIES (WATER, SEWER, ELECTRIC, ETC.)
DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL IMMEDIATELY BE BROUGHT TO THE
ATTENTION OF THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE OR THE ENGINEER AND SHALL
IMMEDIATELY BE REPAIRED AND RESTORED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO MINIMIZE
DISRUPTION TO THE FACILITY'S OPERATION. UNFORESEEN UNDERGROUND REPAIRS
SHALL BE REVIEWED BY THE OWNER FOR CHANGE ORDER CONSIDERATION.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE OWNER'S PROJECT
REPRESENTATIVE ANY EXISTING IRRIGATION INSTALLED IN THE PROJECT AREA.
ANY PORTION OF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM (HEADS, LINES, LATERALS, ETC.) THAT
WILL BE IMPACTED BY THE PROJECT SHALL BE RELOCATED. ANY DAMAGED
COMPONENTS SHALL BE REPAIRED. ALL NEW UNPAVED AREAS SHALL BE
SODDED WITH "BAHIA" GRASS. THE GRASS SHALL BE ROLLED AND MAINTAINED
BY THE CONTRACTOR UNTIL SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT.
11.PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY, THE CONTRUCTOR SHALL WALK THE
SITE WITH A SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVE TO TEST AND OBSERVE THE EXISTING
IRRIGATION SYSTEM. AS PART OF THIS PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
ADJUST / REPAIR AS NECESSARY THE EXISTING SYSTEM TO ADAPT TO THE
IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE PROPER OPERATION OF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REFER TO THE GEOTECHNICAL REPORT PREPARED
BY GEOTECHNICAL AND ENVIRONMENT CONSULTANTS, INC., DATED XX.XX.XXXX
FOR ALL EARTHWORK REQUIREMENTS, PROCEDURES, MATERIALS, TESTING
AND INSPECTIONS.
13. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL A TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION 6' HIGH
DOUBLE CHAIN LINK PERIMETER FENCE 10' APART TO SEPARATE THE
CONSTRUCTION AREA FROM THE REST OF THE CAMPUS AND SHALL MAINTAIN
THE CONSTRUCTION FENCE THROUGH THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.

WHERE DESIGNATED ON THE PLANS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SAWCUT
EDGE OF EXISTING WALKWAY AND CONSTRUCT NEW CONCRETE
PAVEMENT TO MATCH ADJACENT PAVEMENT GRADES.
PAVEMENT RESURFACING
WHERE DESIGNATED ON THE PLANS, THE CONTRACTOR PROVIDE A FULL
DEPTH MILL AND RESURFACE THE EXISTING ASPHALT PAVEMENT. GRADE
ADJUSTMENTS MAYBE NECESSARY TO MEET A.D.A. AND DRAINAGE SLOPE
REQUIREMENTS AS INDICATED ON THE GRADING PLAN .
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING THE VARIOUS
GRADING, PAVING, AND DRAINAGE WORK TO ACCOMPLISH THE PROPER
FUNCTIONING OF THE SITE IMPROVEMENTS.
2. TO PREVENT WATER FROM PONDING OR STANDING ON SIDEWALK OR PAVEMENT
AREAS, ADJACENT SOD SHALL BE INSTALLED 1" BELOW THE EDGE OF PAVEMENT
OR SIDEWALK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SOD THOSE AREAS DESIGNATED ON THE
PLANS OR IN THE BID DOCUMENTS AND MAINTAIN UNTIL A STAND OF GRASS HAS
BEEN ATTAINED.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE AND REPAIR ALL SIDEWALKS, PAVEMENT OR
GRASSY AREAS DAMAGED DURING THE CONSTRUCTION TO EQUAL OR BETTER
CONDITION AND SHALL INCLUDE SUCH COSTS IN HIS BID. DISTURBED GRASSY
AREAS SHALL BE SODDED WITH "BAHIA" GRASS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON
THE LANDSCAPING PLANS.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFORM WITH ALL INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS OF THE
VOLUSIA COUNTY SCHOOLS AND CITY OF ORANGE CITY. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH
INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS SHALL RESULT IN NON-ACCEPTANCE OF SPECIFIC
WORK ITEMS.
5. WHERE NEW PAVEMENT TIES TO EXISTING, THE EDGE OF THE EXISTING
PAVEMENT SHALL BE SAWCUT AND THEN MATCHED.
6. AS PART OF THE WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADJUST EXISTING SANITARY
MANHOLE TOPS, STORM INLET GRATES, WATER VALVE BOXES, ETC. AS
NECESSARY TO MATCH NEW PAVEMENT GRADE.
7. THE DESIGN COVERED BY THIS PROJECT MEETS FBC LATEST EDITION.
8. THE SIGNAGE INSTALLED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT IS TO MEET WIND LOAD
CRITERIA PER ASCE 7-98, FBC 423.10.6 AND 423.9, AND LATEST FDOT
STANDARD PLANS FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION.
9. TO PROMOTE POSITIVE DRAINAGE WITHIN THE SECURED PARKING AREA, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL REGRADE PORTIONS OF THE EXISTING PAVEMENT BASED
ON THE GRADE SHOTS SHOWN ON THE SITE PLAN.
10. AS PART OF THE PROJECT SCOPE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEAN AND
VACUUM ALL EXISTING STORM DRAIN WITHIN THE PROJECT SITE UP TO THE
POINT OF DISCHARGE.
11. VERTICAL CURB SHALL BE INSTALLED AT ALL NEW PAVEMENT DRIVEWAY TO
MATCH EXISTING EXCEPT IF OTHERWISE NOTED.
12. CONCRETE WHEEL STOPS SHALL BE INSTALLED AT PARKING SPACES
ABUTTING PEDESTRIAN SIDEWALKS.
