Rebid Demolition Project
Sealed bids for the Demolition Project will be received by the Owner, Hempfield Area School District, at the Administration Office, at 4347 State Route 136, Greensburg, PA 15601 until 1:00 pm local prevailingtime on Wednesday, May 13, 2026,at which time and place all accepted bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Sealed bids will be received for the following contracts:
Prime Contract No.1 – General Construction
Prime Contract No.2 – Mechanical Construction
Prime Contract No.3 – Electrical Construction
Prime Contract No.4 – Plumbing & Fire Protection
Contractors and subcontractors performing work on this project must comply with Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act (Act of August 15, 1962, P.L. 987, No. 442).
After opening, the bids will be compared as to quality, thoroughness, and cost by the Owner and its Architect, McKinley Architecture and Engineering.
- Demolition of the Hempfield Area School District Maintenance Garage located at 3740 PA Route 136, Greensburg, PA 15601 and a single-family residential structure located at 4361 PA Route 136, Greensburg PA 15601, now consolidated with the high school campus. The distance between these two structures is approximately 3 miles.
- The Maintenance Garage at 3740 PA Route 136 is a 17,500 sf single-story wooden structure that has been damaged in a windstorm and has been closed. It is currently unoccupied and supplementary structural bracing has been installed to stabilize it, pending demolition. It is immediately adjacent to the Hempfield Area School District Facilities Department building and the two are separated by a masonry fire wall that is to remain. Existing electrical equipment in two locations within the existing garage are to be enclosed with new construction to protect the equipment prior to demolition of the
- The single-family residential structure at 4361 PA Route 136 is a free-standing 1,568 sf two-story brick house and includes a basement. It is currently unoccupied. Existing electrical, water, and sewer service to this building are to be extended to the existing free-standing garage building onsite.
- This is a multiple-prime contract project in compliance with the Pennsylvania Separations Act 71 P.S 1618. As such, bids are herewith being solicited for:

- General Construction (including Building Demolition)
- HVAC Construction
- Plumbing Construction
- Electrical Construction
As the scope of the HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Construction Contracts are limited, General Construction B idders are encouraged to consider also submitting separate bids for these contracts.
Electronic c opies of the b idding d ocuments will be available on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from the office of the Architect, McKinley Architecture and Engineering, 910 Sheraton Drive, Suite 200, Mars, PA 16046, telephone (724) 719-6975. Bidding documents are being issued in electronic format (PDF) only and will be sent by the Architect to interested parties via file transfer email download only. Only full sets of the bidding documents will be issued by the Architect. All bidding document requests for information,substitution requests and correspondence shall be submitted in writing and directed to the Architect’s administrative account, email projects@mckinleydelivers.com . Addenda will be issued by the Architect to registered bidding document holders only, who will automatically receive all addenda in electronic format (PDF) via file transfer email.
A MANDATORY Pre Bid m eeting will be held at Hempfield Area School District Administration Office, at 4347 State Route 136, Greensburg, PA 15601, 1:30 pm local prevailing time on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, for the purpose of familiarizing Bidders with bidding requirements and to consider questions regarding the b idding d ocuments. All potential B idders are required to attend. Potential subbidders and material suppliers are also encouraged to attend. Sign-in will be at the main entrance.
A Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and issued by a surety company approved by and in favor of the Owner, in the amount equal to five percent (5%) of the b id, shall be submitted with each b id, to guarantee the Bidder’s entrance into a Contract, if given the award.
No accepted b id shall be waived or returned because the Bidder failed to, or cannot comply with, all requirements as set forth in b idding d ocuments. Further, the successful B idder will be required to furnish and pay for a satisfactory 100% Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bond in the amount of the contract price.
Bids may not be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days without the consent of the Owner.
To the extent permitted by state law, the Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to make selections from the bids that are solely in its own best interest.
