QIAGEN QIAseq DIRECT sequencing kits

The Minnesota Department of Health intends to enter an agreement with Qiagen for the purchase of QIAGEN QIAseq DIRECT sequencing kits.

This has been deemed a single source, as QIAseq reagent kits are designed in a way that they produce superior genome coverage when used with wastewater media. This was determined through multiple experiments within PHL comparing alternative kits and processing methods while working under guidance from CDC and NWSS Center of excellence laboratories – WSLH and CO. The QIAseq kits are the only ones that have produced reportable results with genome coverage well above the minimum genome coverage threshold. These kits comply with current PHL ENV SOPs for wastewater processing and are in the process of being validated for IDL SOPs. QIAGEN does not have any authorized vendors for these kits, as confirmed by a Sole Source letter, and searching other retail sites.
