Bid Title: PV York Village Fire Station Bid Advertisement
Category: Bid Announcements
Status: Open
Description:

The Town of York is seeking bids from qualified solar installers for the design and installation of a solar photovoltaic (PV) array on the roof of the York Village Fire Station. This project is a key initiative to enhance local sustainability, reduce operational costs, and demonstrate municipal leadership in clean energy adoption, directly supporting the goals of the Town's Climate Action Plan.

This project is a direct response to the priorities identified within York's Climate Action Plan (CAP), specifically addressing the following goals:

Focus Area 3: Access to Renewable Energy

Goal 3.1: Supporting the overall increase in the supply of renewable energy for all York citizens. By generating clean electricity directly at a municipal facility, the project adds to the town's renewable energy capacity and sets an example for broader adoption.

Goal 3.2: Promoting alternative means by which residents and businesses can access renewable energy without having to install or operate equipment, as the municipal investment provides a model and direct benefit to the town's energy profile.

Project Overview:

  • Project Goal: Install a roof-mounted solar PV system at the York Village Fire Station.
  • Anticipated Annual Output: The system is estimated to generate approximately 35,000 kWh/year.
  • Project Deliverables:
    • A complete, professionally installed, and fully operational solar PV system, interconnected with the utility grid.
    • Training for Fire Station staff on basic system monitoring (if applicable).
    • Continuous performance monitoring to ensure optimal energy production.
    • Scheduled maintenance and cleaning as per manufacturer's recommendations.

Bidder Requirements: Prospective bidders must demonstrate expertise in commercial solar installations and a strong understanding of grid-tied systems.

All sealed bids must be received by the Environmental Planner (second floor of York Town Hall) at 186 York Street, York, ME 03909 by October 14 th , 2025, by 4pm. The Town of York reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
