Overview
Summary

The Palmdale Water District intends on entering into a contract with a Professional Engineering and Construction Services firm to provide Request for Qualifications for the Pure Water Antelope Valley Advanced Water Purification Facility .

Background

The Palmdale Irrigation District was formed in 1918 under the provisions of Division 11 of the Water Code of the State of California to supply irrigation water to the approximately 4,500 acres of agricultural land within its boundaries. Under this Code, the District’s primary functions were, and continue to be, to acquire, control, conserve, store, and distribute water for the beneficial use of inhabitants and water users within the District.

The Palmdale Water District (PWD) is an independent special district governed by a five-member Board of Directors who serve the public by division. Special districts provide accountability and a means to vote selectively and provide customers the opportunity to express their preferences more precisely. The most basic virtue of a special district is to allow citizens to customize government to suit their needs.

PWD primarily relies on local groundwater and surface water delivered through the State Water Project to meet its water needs. To diversify its water supply and increase resiliency against future droughts, PWD has embarked on an indirect potable reuse (IPR) project referred to as Pure Water Antelope Valley (Pure Water AV). The Stantec Team (including Stantec, Trussell, MWA, Katz, and Montgomery & Associates) was retained by the PWD to provide program management services for Pure Water AV ( www.purewaterav.org ).
