Purchase of Born Primitive Operational Assault Apparel for SWAT Unit

The Hialeah Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit seeks authorization to purchase Born Primitive Operational Assault apparel to standardize and replace outdated tactical uniforms. The apparel includes high-performance assault pants and operational tops designed for dynamic entry operations and tactical readiness.

This purchase supports the City’s efforts to maintain operational preparedness and officer safety while ensuring consistency with current tactical standards used by comparable law-enforcement agencies.

The SWAT Unit performs high-risk operations that require specialized gear providing durability, flexibility, and comfort under extreme conditions. The current apparel inventory has exceeded its service life and no longer meets performance or safety expectations.

Born Primitive’s Operational Assault line was evaluated by SWAT staff and selected based on superior material quality, reinforced stitching, mobility, and integrated tactical functionality. Comparable products were reviewed; however, Born Primitive’s apparel was determined to provide the best balance of quality, comfort, and cost for operational needs.

This expenditure is consistent with departmental uniform standards and aligns with current funding availability under the Police Department’s approved FY 2026 operating budget.
