INVITATION TO BID
Owensboro Municipal Utilities will receive sealed proposals until 2:00 P.M. (CST)
on Thursday May 28, 2026 (prevailing time) at which time proposals will be
opened for:
RFP No. 26-05-013
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING AND DESIGN SERVICES:
TRANSMISSION TOWER #22
OMU is seeking proposals for structural consultant and design services. Proposals should
anticipate replacement of the existing Tower #22 with a new structure to be constructed
farther inland away from the riverbank. The extent of relocation is limited by the river
crossing span and may not exceed 250 feet from its present position. The new structure
must also remain in line and within OMU's existing easements and must be capable of
maintaining the current height of conductors crossing the river.
Proposals should represent professional consulting, engineering, and design services only;
OMU will be responsible for securing contract labor and equipment required to perform
construction and demolition during the execution phase of the project.
Engineering services should include both recommendation and designs for the type of
structure to be used as well as its associated foundation. The performance of a
geotechnical investigation should be included.
Familiarity with high voltage transmission line supporting structures (to include traditional
lattice type structures as well as other specialty options such as Valmont PyraMAX),
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and procedures, and navigable
waterway requirements are essential.
If awarded, all subsequent engineering and design services (tower and foundation),
including the geotechnical investigation, must be completed and provided to OMU by
September 18, 2026.
Prospective bidders may obtain copies of the bid documents and specifications by
sending an e-mail with your Company Name and a brief description of your business.
Contact Derek Price, Buyer, via e-mail: pricedm@omu.org.
OMU reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive irregularities.
