Bid Attributes
1 Introduction
ISU Printing Services is requesting proposals for multiple production digital black and white printing presses for our
satellite quick-print center on the ISU campus. These printers should produce professional quality printing directly
from electronic files. Our intent is to replace 2 existing Konica Minolta BizHub 1250 devices currently (monochrome
toner) operational at this location. A 3rd Konica Minolta 1250 (at our main location) can be considered as part of a
trade-in offer, but not as part of any print print-volume replacement consideration.
We will consider both toner and inkjet printing technologies. Quality, efficiency, cost, service and finishing
capabilities will all be considered when evaluating bids. Proposed equipment could also print in color, but cost of
Black/White will be considered primarily. We prefer to see purchase prices, not lease. Financing options not
required either. To reduce cost, we may consider demo, or used equipment the original manufacturer has
completely remanufactured that includes new equipment warranty.
The nature of the jobs produced at this location is quick-turn, so flexibility and speed is important. There is a need
to be able to run multiple jobs at the same time and we often get jobs that require up to 8 different papers (colors)
within one product. Room space is limited, but we are open to suggestions on various configurations or number of
machines to satisfy our needs. We are not necessarily looking for matching devices. The best option may be
multiple printers of differing speed and capabilities.
There is also a need for a coil-Punching solution. Currently, one of the 2 printers being replaced has an inline GBC
punch that we used for coil-punching only. We would like options for replacing this need, whether it be inline or
offline, multiple options are preferred.
Multiple bids from vendors would be encouraged. All options available should be provided in a line-item a-la-cart
format. Below are specifications and statistics of the existing printers. Offers for trade-in or removal of our existing
printers is encouraged, see specifications below:
