The North Carolina Department of Public Safety Emergency Management Division and the
Department of Transportation are requesting bids for the construction of Standard and Modular
Bridges on private roads over Little Laurel Creek (Site 005-01-a5d2f) located at 915 Little Laurel
Rd, over Three Top Creek (Site 005-01-69cd6) located at 1338 William T Calloway Rd, and over
Old Fields Creek (Site 005-01-a58a0) located at 189 Meadowood Lane in Ashe County to be let
at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
The date of availability for bridge construction at 915 Little Laurel Rd (Site 005-01-a5d2f) is
the date the Contractor begins work, but not before December 1, 2026 and no later than July 4,
2027.
The completion date for this contract is the date that is sixty (60) consecutive calendar days after
and including the date of availability. Liquidated damages are Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00)
per calendar day.
The date of availability for bridge construction at 1338 William T Calloway Rd, (Site 005-01-
69cd6) is the date the Contractor begins work, but not before December 1, 2026 and no later than
July 4, 2027.
The completion date for this contract is the date that is sixty (60) consecutive calendar days after
and including the date of availability. Liquidated damages are Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00)
per calendar day.

The date of availability for bridge construction at 189 Meadowood Lane, (Site 005-01-a58a0) is
the date the Contractor begins work, but not before December 1, 2026 and no later than July 4,
2027.
The completion date for this contract is the date that is sixty (60) consecutive calendar days after
and including the date of availability. Liquidated damages are Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00)
per calendar day.
Because of the unusual nature of the work involved and in order for all prospective
bidders to have extensive knowledge of the project, an open, virtual Pre-Bid Conference
will be held for all interested parties on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 10:00 am.

This is not a mandatory pre-bid conference however all potential bidders are
strongly encouraged to attend.
Sealed bids must be received in the NC Department of Transportation Division Office
at 55 Orange Street, Asheville, NC 28801 by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4,
2026. Bids must be submitted on the official bid sheet included in the proposal and
display the following statement on the front of the envelope:

Any firm that wishes to bid as a prime contractor shall be prequalified as a Bidder or PO
Prime Contractor prior to submitting a bid. Firms that wish to perform as a subcontractor
to the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to beginning work on the project.

bidders that it will affirmatively insure that the contract entered into pursuant to this
notice will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder without discrimination on the
