The Town of Amherst is inviting sealed bids for police vehicle maintenance.  Invitation for Bids may be obtained at www.amherstma.gov/bids .

Bids shall be submitted no later than 2:00PM on May 29, 2025 to the Town Accountant’s Office, where the bids will be publicly opened and recorded at that time.

The Town of Amherst reserves the right to reject any and all bids in whole or in part, and to waive informalities, when at its sole discretion is deemed to be in the best interests of the Town and to the extent permitted by law.

Qualifications:
Mechanics doing work under this contract must have a minimum of two years (2-yrs) of experience in all aspects of power train repair and maintenance, or must be certified by a nationally accepted organization as qualified to perform the work for which they will be assigned. Bidder must have a least one year (1-yr) of previously demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of emergency vehicles.
Special Requirements:
Garage facility of bidder must be within five miles (5mi) of Amherst police station, 111 Main Street, Amherst, MA 01002 or bidder must provide pick-up and delivery of vehicles at no extra charge. Bidder must have the capacity to perform a routine maintenance check on each vehicle on a weekly basis between the hours of 5:30AM and 7:00AM. All routine required maintenance services under this contract must be performed between the hours of 7:00AM and 8:00AM. Bidder must have sufficient qualified mechanics available between those hours to perform maintenance as needed.
Miscellaneous:
Bidder must provide a list of all employees or persons who are regularly on premises of bidder for the purpose of allowing the Amherst Police to conduct a record’s check on all such persons. The results of the records check must be satisfactory to Amherst Police Department. Bidder must warrant that no employee or other person regularly on premises will have any access to police department vehicles unless such person has been certified by the Amherst Police Department as qualified to have access to a police vehicle. No individual with a felony conviction or with a misdemeanor conviction within two years (2-yrs) of the date of commencement of this contract shall be considered qualified to have access to a police vehicle. All maintenance and repair required under this contract shall be done in the facility of bidder, or in the facility of a subcontractor which meets all criteria herein. Bidder is required to list any and all subcontractors (e.g., auto body work, transmission repair, front end alignment, etc.) who might perform work under this contract. All employees of any subcontractor must be certifiable and qualified to same extent and in same manner as employees of bidder.
