PKAA, DRUM SAPP Project

The DRUM SAPP Project consists of safeguarding twenty-nine (29) mine features including twenty-seven (27) adits, one (1) prospect adit and one (1) subsidence. The project consists of fifteen (15) features on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and fourteen on private lands. Ten (10) of the features are located near Uravan in Montrose County and the remaining nineteen (19) are in the Placerville/Sawpit area in San Miguel County. One (1) shaft was to be included in Long Park area however NEPA has not been completed but there is potential to add via change order. Closure methods will include corrugated steel pipes, backfill, polyurethane foam, bulkhead, grates with and without access doors and cable nets. Some features will include bat compatible grates or otherwise require bat exclusions prior to backfill or bulkhead. The uranium mine closure Safety, Health and Environmental Action Plan requirements will be applied.
