The BPMD (Bonita Peak Mining District) Plus Project is located north of Silverton, Colorado in San Juan County.
The BPMD Plus project will safeguard mine sites, shafts/vertical openings, and adits/horizontal openings. The mine sites are in and around Silverton, Colorado in San Juan County. Access to some of the sites is possible with vehicles and equipment and other sites are remote and require hike in access and helicopter delivery of materials is suggested. A few of the sites are located at trailheads, on trails, and near campgrounds, making them a priority for safety closure due to recreation nearby.
