The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is hosting an Industry Day for the PIGA Float Sustainment contract. This component plays a critical role in the guidance system of the Minuteman III (MMIII) missile. The government's intent is to establish a competitive procurement and believes adequate competition exists within the market. This event will provide interested parties with an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities and experience relevant to sustaining the PIGA Float system. This Industry Day follows the previously released Sources Sought (SS) notice (FA821425CBPIGA) and aims to cultivate a competitive landscape for this critical sustainment effort.
Participation in SS-FA821425CBPIGA is not required for participation in this Industry Day
THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP). The government reserves the right to set aside any subsequent acquisition based upon known sources and/or responses to this synopsis. Attendance at this Industry Day does not guarantee contract award.
Date and Time: Contractors will be scheduled separately and will present only to AFNWC. Contractors will not have access to other participants. Attendance records of contractors attending this Industry Day will not be released.
Dates available for scheduling:
August 18th 0900 MST -1400 MST
August 19th 1030 MST – 1400 MST
Presentations will be limited to 2 hours
Location: Hill AFB, Utah (In-person attendance is preferred but not required). Virtual attendance via Microsoft Teams may be available upon request. Please indicate your attendance preference during registration.
Purpose: This Industry Day is primarily focused on facilitating industry presentations showcasing capabilities and innovative approaches to PIGA Float sustainment. Specifically, contractors should address their expertise in manufacturing and inspecting parts with extremely tight tolerances and their ability to secure and utilize rare materials. While the government will provide a high-level overview of the PIGA Float system and its importance to the MMIII guidance system, the emphasis will be on industry partners demonstrating their understanding of the system's functionality and their proposed sustainment strategies. This is an opportunity for industry to differentiate their offerings and demonstrate their readiness to meet the sustainment needs of the PIGA Float system.
Participation in this Industry Day will not provide contractors with access to any special or privileged information.
As part of the industry day, contractors will be allotted time to ask questions. Answers to questions asked will be distributed to all participants and included as part of all future release packages
Eligibility: interested parties must be actively registered in the System for Award Management (SAM). Further, interested parties must possess a valid and current DD2345 Military Critical Technical Data Agreement certified by the Defense Logistics Information Service, Joint Certification Program (1-877-352-2255) and have a legitimate business purpose.
Participation is limited to contractors meeting these requirements.
Contractors who need to become certified can find the form and instructions at:
https://public.logisticsinformationservice.dla.mil/PublicHome/jcp/default.aspx .
Interested parties are advised that certification of a DD2345 may take time, so completion and submission of that form as soon as possible is highly recommended.
Capability Presentations: Presenting capabilities at the Industry Day is highly encouraged for companies interested in pursuing this contract opportunity and is an excellent way to demonstrate their proposed approach to sustaining the PIGA Float system. Presentations should highlight relevant experience, innovative solutions, unique qualifications, and understanding of the criticality of the PIGA Float to the MMIII mission.
Details regarding presentation format and time allotted will be provided upon registration.
Contractors should cover all information requested in SS- FA821425CBPIGA in their capability presentation. Contractors who did not submit a whitepaper in response to SS-FA821425CBPIGA are strongly encouraged to incorporate the information requested in the SS into their capability presentation.
Attached questions contains further information requested by the Government. This document will only be released to contractors with Active DD2345s. Responding to this document is not required but will help the government greatly in determining market capabilities.
Capability presentation should highlight the following:
- Contractor special status (small business, 8(a), etc.)
- Commercial alternatives
- Contract type recommendations (FFP, CRNF, etc.)
Registration: Please register for the Industry Day by 11 Aug 2025 by contacting Kim Gibson by email at kimberly.gibson.7@us.af.mil. Please indicate your preference for in-person or virtual attendance (Microsoft Teams required for virtual participation).
Agenda: will be provided upon registration
Additional Information: For in-person attendees, projectors and screens will be available in the conference room; however, network access may not be available.
While attending the Industry Day is not mandatory for future participation in this procurement, if the government cannot find sufficient, capable competition based on information received, the government intends to issue a sole source contract for this effort.
The government will not reimburse any costs associated with attending this Industry Day.
Due to the sensitive nature of the effort, only naturalized citizens that are not considered foreign nationals will be granted this unique access. All visitors will be vetted before being allowed to attend including possible background checks.
This announcement constitutes market research in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10. This is not a solicitation for proposals and does not obligate the government to issue a solicitation or award a contract.
