Pierce County State Legislative Representation Services

Pierce County Government Relations is seeking a state contract lobbyist consultant interested in representing the County's interests at the state level. The Consultant will act as a liaison and report activities to the Executive or their designee who coordinates the County's legislative advocacy efforts. Essential duties include monitoring and analyzing legislation; making recommendations on responses to legislative proposals and budgetary actions that impact the County; and meeting with state-level officials to advocate for the County's priorities.

Pierce County is Washington's second-largest county with an estimated population of over 920,000. In Washington State, county governments have limited revenue-raising authority compared to city governments. As such, Pierce County has significant needs for influencing state-level policy and budgetary decisions. The Consultant will interface with the County Executive, County Council, countywide elected officials, and County staff on policy development, preparation of funding requests, and advocacy strategy for advancing the County's interests.
