The City of Garfield is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Part-Time Assistant Zoning Officer. This position assists with zoning administration, inspections, and enforcement of municipal land use regulations. There is potential for additional responsibilities related to property maintenance inspections and enforcement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with zoning permit review and approvals
  • Conduct field inspections for zoning and property maintenance compliance
  • Respond to resident inquiries and complaints
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Support enforcement actions as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Valid Zoning Officer and/or Code Enforcement Certification issued by the State of New Jersey (required)
  • Knowledge of municipal land use regulations and property maintenance standards
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in the field

This is a part-time position (maximum 18 hours per week). Flexible hours are required, including availability for inspections and occasional meetings as needed.
