Summary
The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners ("County") invites sealed bids from qualified and licensed general contractors to furnish all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, transportation, permits, and incidentals necessary for the complete construction of the Escambia Fire-Rescue Paradise Beach Station 20.
The Project consists of the site development and construction of a new approximately 12,780-square-foot, three-bay fire station designed to accommodate ten (10) emergency response personnel. As an essential public safety facility, the station has been designed to meet current operational requirements, resiliency standards, and applicable stormwater management criteria.
All work shall be performed in strict accordance with the Contract Documents, including the Drawings, Specifications, and all other requirements contained in this Invitation to Bid (ITB).
The Project site is located at 1250 Bauer Road, Pensacola, Florida 32506, identified as Parcel No. 27-2S-31-2202-000-000.
Background
During a regularly scheduled Board Meeting, the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners voted to replace and add new fire stations to areas of the county that currently do not have adequate fire protection.
The Paradise Beach/Bauer Road area has experienced a reduction in fire protection services since the closure of Escambia County Fire Station 20 in 2018, when the County's lease on the former station site expired. Since that time, emergency response has primarily been provided by surrounding stations, most notably Station 8 (Innerarity Point) and other neighboring companies. While these stations continue to provide service to the area, they must travel greater distances and are also responsible for protecting their own primary response districts, resulting in longer travel times and reduced system redundancy during simultaneous emergency incidents.
