N. Merchant St. Reconstruction Project – Phase 2

ADDENDUM #2

June 4, 2026

This addendum revises construction and backfill requirements for sanitary sewer and storm sewer.

1) The required minimum material requirement for open trench gravity sewer shall be reduced to

SDR 26.

2) The requirement for detectable warning tape to mark the sanitary sewer location is deleted.

3) CCTV inspection shall be performed by the City of Effingham at no cost to the contractor.

4) The Water Main Quality Storm Sewer Pipe may be any material listed in the special provision.

Regardless of the material chosen, the backfill requirements in Article 550.07 will follow the

requirements of “flexible” pipe in IDOT standard specifications.

5) Trench Backfill pay limits shall be determined according to the IDOT Standard Specifications. The

material may be any material that is allowed by those specifications with the following

exception: The top 8” of Trench Backfill material may only be material meeting the

requirements of CA6.

This is a clarification of the specifications and details on Sheet 16. A note on the detail for “rigid”

pipe should be struck for clarity. See below.
