Title: On-Call Restoration Services
Addenda: 1
Release Date: 10/21/2024
Due Date: 11/25/2024
The City of Seattle is seeking qualifications for On-Call Restoration Services . Qualifications are due no later than 10:00 am on Monday, November 25, 2024 . All questions are to be submitted through the e-procurement portal at https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/seattle no later than 8:30 am on Thursday, November 7, 2024 .
Purpose
Seattle City Light (SCL) seeks to engage civil engineering design consultants to provide restoration plans, surveying, and base map creation necessary to obtain Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) Utility Major Permits required for City Light utility work. Projects will include curb ramp design, sidewalk restoration design, and street restoration design. The design consultant will work with SDOT through the permitting process, responding to comments and
updating designs as needed.
City Light projects frequently trigger extensive restoration requirements when applying for permits with transportation departments, primarily SDOT. Through access to a pool of civil engineering design consultants, City Light will produce restoration designs that satisfy transportation department permitting requirements, allowing City Light to perform its critical utility work.
Background
Many City Light projects, notably pole installations in intersections in Seattle, trigger Utility Major Permits necessitating restoration designs for new curb ramps. City Light does not have the civil engineering resources available to complete these curb ramp designs in-house, and must contract out for design work. SDOT review of submitted designs may take up to 6 months. City Light will have an increasing need for restoration designs throughout the next 60 months. Potential challenges include SDOT review timelines and changing curb ramp requirements.
