Title: On-call Electrical Services for Movable Bridges

The work under this Contract shall consist of providing the electrical services described herein, on an as-needed basis, for Grand Avenue Bridge, Ferry Street Bridge and Chapel Street Bridge, whenever requested by the Engineer. Interested parties should submit qualifications and rate sheets - the City will issue a purchase order to be used for on-call emergency services and drawn down over the life of the contract. If both parties agree the contract and purchase order will be renewable for up to three years.
The Contractor shall be required to respond to emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Engineering services are performed on each of the movable bridge structures by a City of New Haven On-Call Engineer and are not included.
The Contractor’s work shall include but not be limited to:
Assisting the Engineer in accessing the structure in the case that vehicular or navigational traffic damages a portion of the bridge. The mechanical and electrical equipment is designed to stall prior to any damage to the structure, but instances have occurred where the adjacent structural members are distorted under machinery loads. Provide temporary and / or permanent repairs to, or replacement of, defective components. Other modifications, installation, replacement, or removal of bridge equipment or systems as directed by the Engineer.
Assisting the Engineer in trouble-shooting electrical malfunctions or failures in the bridge machinery systems.
