ON-CALL BRICK DRAINAGE RUNNEL REPAIRS

The City of Charlottesville is soliciting bids from qualified vendors to preform repairs of the Downtown Mall brick drainage runnel system on an on-call basis.

The Downtown Mall in Charlottesville is a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly area that spans eight blocks in the heart of the city. It's a bustling hub of economic activity, featuring over 120 shops, more than 30 restaurants, and numerous entertainment venues. Designed by renowned landscape architect Lawrence Halprin in the late 1970s, the mall combines historical charm with modern flair. Its brick-paved streets are lined with trees, benches, and sculptures, creating a unique and inviting setting for both locals and tourists. The Downtown Mall is also home to significant landmarks like the Paramount Theater and the Ting Pavilion, which host a variety of events, from concerts to movies to lectures. With its mix of dining, shopping, and cultural experiences, the Downtown Mall truly serves as a key gathering place for the Charlottesville community.

As the Downtown Mall approaches its 50-year anniversary, additional focus on the care of and attention to this important place in the city is needed. Significant targeted maintenance of the mall's infrastructure will be a target purpose, especially within the next nine months. Additional current and ongoing resources are required to address the needed infrastructure maintenance and repairs.
