Summary

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is respectfully seeking the purchase of two unarmed security officers. These security officers will be used in the Northwest District Office to assist with maintaining a safe and secure workplace.

The expectations of the security officers are but not limited to patrol building & grounds to assure safety & security by walking in & around building; check & secure building; lock & unlock doors; report safety hazards & other unusual conditions; investigate & document safety & security violations; maintain daily log of all activity & alarms that occur during the shift; check personnel/visitors entering & leaving premises by log &/or by checking identification; conduct searches of packages &/or persons; use professional & courteous customer services techniques in all personal & telephone contacts with public; assist in maintenance of peace & order in/around assigned building; complete any necessary reports; use of personal computer & associated hardware/software (e.g., use Outlook for e-mail, write shift & incident reports); may use Closed Circuit TV* (CCTV) to monitor building as required by shift & assignment; perform related security & safety functions (e.g., administers First Aid, CPR, &/or uses Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in response to medical emergencies; maintain current knowledge of location & operation of life safety equipment in building (e.g., fire alarms, PA system, gas & water shutoff valves); in emergencies, activate fire alarm, shut off gas & water, use PA system to alert tenants, assist with evacuations; performs any other duties required to ensure building occupants’ safety.

The requested security officers will provide complete coverage during working hours for Northwest District Office staff.  The first security officer will begin at 6:30am and end at 3pm. The second security officer will start their shift at 9:30am and finish their shift at 6:00pm. Each security officer will be allotted an unpaid half hour break. This timeframe establishes there will be at least one officer during the entirety of the workday.
