Title: NW 122nd Street Extension from SR 26 to NW 17th Avenue

The extension of NW 122nd Street from SR 26 to NW 17th Avenue replaces an existing limerock access drive that is approximately 0.61 miles long, extending north from SR 26. It is designed as a two-lane roadway section with turn lanes and 10' shared-use paths along both sides. The new roadway will connect to existing roads and sidewalks at both NW 13th Avenue and NW 17th Avenue, which are associated with an existing residential subdivision.
The project will include piped conveyance system to collect and direct stormwater to a Stormwater Management Facility (SMF). The new SMF will utilize an existing depressional area located on an adjacent property. It will serve this new roadway as well as pre-development runoff from the adjacent property. Alachua County has been granted a temporary construction easement for the SMF area.
The project includes milestones which the Contractor shall achieve in order to fulfill obligations of Alachua County to the Florida Department of Transportation related to the intersection of NW 122nd Street and SR 26.
Location: Alachua County is located in North Central Florida. The County government seat is situated in Gainesville. Gainesville is located 70 miles southwest of Jacksonville, 129 miles southeast of Tallahassee, 140 miles northeast of Tampa - St. Petersburg and 109 miles northwest of Orlando. Alachua County has a population of over 250,000 and a regional airport. The County itself consists of a total area of 969 square miles.
Form of Government: Alachua County is governed by a Board of five (5) elected County Commissioners and operates under the established County Manager Charter form of government. In addition to the five County Commissioners, there are five elected Constitutional Officers: Supervisor of Elections, Sheriff, Clerk of the Court, Tax Collector, and the Property Appraiser.
