NVLAP Accreditation from NIST

The Minnesota Department of Commerce – Weights and Measures Division intends to purchase accreditation through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) called National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP). MN Statute 239.011 Subd 18 (ii) requires maintaining NVLAP accreditation to the extent practicable. NVLAP (Accreditation) and NIST OWM (Recognition) work together to ensure state metrology laboratories are adequately staffed and trained to provide critical metrological services. It is only through participation in the NVLAP through NIST that Commerce can achieve the required recognition of NIST OWM.
