Nutrition RFP -Congregate Meal Programs

Do you know an older adult who could benefit from having access to a hot meal and some socialization? Do you have an established community within Washington County? Do you serve older adults and want to provide nutritious and community appropriate meals to these program participants? If you answered yes to any of the above questions then we want to hear from you. We are seeking congregate meal program proposals from meal providers, community organizations, and other centers that work with the older adult population in Washington County.

We are looking for proposals for providing meals that are collaborative and actionable. Our hope is to serve as many older adults as funding allows and we are seeking new ways of connecting with older adults we may not have previously served. This is where your organization comes in. Please let us know your ideas and plans for providing congregate meals to older adults from varying communities throughout Washington County. Let us know other partners you may collaborate with through funding, shared space, etc. Discuss the types of social activities or resources your organization would offer to participants in your congregate meal site. We want to hear how you will serve any older adult who lives within Washington County if they attended your meal site.

For 10 years prior to 2020, Washington County had one meal provider and it was required that they provide both congregate meals and home delivered meals. In requiring an organization to have the ability to do both congregate and home delivered meals in previous Requests for Proposals (RFP), it limited the community agencies who could submit proposals. In 2020, it was decided to break out the nutrition RFP into two separate areas (Congregate and Home Delivered Meals) to allow for more variety in the community organizations who would apply. After our last Congregate RFP, we ended up with four different meal providers who served a wide range of areas within Washington County. We are hoping to have multiple providers after this RFP closes that once again covers the majority of Washington County residents.
