NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that public hearings have been scheduled for
Tuesday April 14, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. and April 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the
County Board Room of the Nicollet County Government Center, 501 S
Minnesota Avenue in St. Peter, Minnesota.
The Nicollet County Board of Commissioners will be conducting the Public
Hearing pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 375.51 on April 14, 2026 at
6:30 p.m. to gather feedback on whether to restrict deer hunting to
shotguns only, following the state's repeal of the county shotgun zone for
the 2026 season. The meeting is also to gather feedback if the county
should adopt an ordinance allowing only shotguns, or allow rifle usage as
permitted by state law.
The Nicollet County Board of Commissioners will also be conducting a
Public Hearing pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 375.51 on April 28,
2026 at 10:00 a.m. to consider adopting an ordinance to restrict deer
hunting to shotguns only in Nicollet County beginning the 2026 deer
hunting season. Information on the proposed ordinance may be
obtained from the Nicollet County Administrator's office located at 501 S.
Minnesota Ave, St. Peter, MN or online at www.co.nicollet.mn.us.
All interested persons may appear and be heard at the public hearings
either orally or in writing, or may file written comments with the County
Board Clerk before the hearing.
