This is a Notice of Intent, not a Request for Quotation (RFQ). No solicitation will be issued, and quotations will not be accepted.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a firm-fixed-price sole source contract to:

The NIH Department of Perioperative Medicine seeks to acquire specific reagents exclusively manufactured by 10X Genomics Inc to support critical ongoing laboratory experiments. These reagents are essential for conducting spatial transcriptomic analyses to map RNA sequences within individual cells, particularly within human dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and spinal cord tissues. These experiments are mission-critical to advancing NIH research in the field of pain and gene expression.

The reagents requested are compatible only with instruments and platforms developed by 10X Genomics and are required to maintain consistency in data collection for ongoing studies tied to publications and federal research objectives.

10X Genomics Inc is the sole manufacturer and supplier of the required consumables, including gene expression panels and decoding reagents. No other vendors or resellers can provide reagents that are compatible with the NIH’s existing 10X Genomics instrumentation. Therefore, 10X Genomics is the only source capable of meeting the technical and scientific requirements of this acquisition.

This procurement is being conducted under FAR Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, specifically Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), which permits sole source awards when only one source is reasonably available. As such, the competition requirements under FAR Part 6 do not apply.

Response Instructions

Interested parties who believe they can fulfill this requirement must submit a capability statement specifically addressing the technical compatibility and availability of equivalent reagents.
