The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District intends to solicit a fixed price contract for repairs to the Drift Collection Vessel (DCV) Hayward. The solicitation will be restricted to shipyards within the boundary deemed safely navigable to reach by the DCV Hayward in its current condition.
DCV Hayward’s starboard shaft bearing liner has become corroded to the point that it is no longer serviceable. Because Hayward only has one shaft operational, she will be limited in transit range to the NY Harbor. DCV Hayward is currently berthed at Caven Point Marine Temrinal in Jersey City, NJ and may require tug assistance to get to contractor facility for repairs. Given her current condition, contract work on the Hayward shall be performed within the following boundary: The Southern most voyage shall be no further than the Verrazano Bridge, the Eastern most voyage shall be no further than the Williamsburg Bridge on the East River. The Northern most reach shall be no further north than Stony Point on the Hudson River, and the Western most reach shall be no further than the Bayonne Bridge.
