The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Cimquest Inc. to provide annual maintenance and support for the Desktop Metal Studio System 2 and annual license renewal for the Fabricate slicing software.
Program requires annual maintenance and technical support for a Desktop Metal Studio System 2 metal 3D printer (s/n: SP012208009569) and Furnace (s/n: DF722211000227) and a one-year license renewal with support for the Fabricate software that works in tandem with the Studio System 2 metal 3D printer.
Annual maintenance and technical support consist of email support, phone support, on-site support, one preventative maintenance visit per year, and spare parts.
The license renewal for software support provides regular software and firmware updates to ensure the 3D printer and furnace are always up to date with the latest print processes and parameters as well as e-mail and phone support for software or firmware issues.
The DesktopMetal Studio System 2 metal 3D printer and furnace are used to create metallic parts out of stainless steel. The Desktop Studio system 2 metal 3D printer and Furnace were purchased from Cimquest Inc. in 2022, and an annual maintenance and software renewal are required to keep it operational. The Fabricate slicing software is integral to the operation of the printer and is required to run the equipment. Desktop Metal has proprietary software and only allows service of their equipment and software through official distributers. The official distributor is Cimquest, Inc. No other offerors are capable of providing this service as the maintenance of the Desktop Metal Studio 2 and furnace equipment and software maintenance are proprietary, and Cimquest, Inc. is the only vendor authorized by Desktop Metal to provide these services to NIOSH. The period of performance for this service is 3/22/2025 to 3/21/2030, with an annual base period and four option years.
This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any response shall be emailed to Laurie Presley at xnp0@cdc.gov and Joshua Houston at pkf5@cdc.gov no later than Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 4:30pm Eastern time.
